FACTS

  1. Emergency evacuations include evacuations in the workplace. 
  2. The most frequent causes of evacuations in the U.S. each year are fires and floods. 
  3. A wide variety of emergencies, both man-made and natural, require a workplace to be evacuated. These emergencies may include explosions, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, hazardous/toxic material releases, radiological and biological accidents, civil disturbances and workplace violence.
  4. A workplace emergency is an unforeseen situation that threatens employees, customers, or the public; disrupts or shuts down your operations; or causes physical or environmental damage.
