Before any maintenance task involving hazardous chemicals begins, the air must be tested, the required respiratory protection must be confirmed in writing, and every worker in the area must understand exactly what hazard they are walking into. Silence and assumption are not safety measures — they are the conditions under which preventable deaths occur.
