Painter Falls From Stepladder

A job of repainting an outdoor stairway at a commuter train station was the end of the line for a 45-year old man.

He fell from a stepladder while painting the concrete and metal stairway leading to the station platform. The eight-foot (2.44 meter) stepladder had been set up on a landing of the staircase. No one knows why he fell. A co-worker heard him gasp and tried to catch him as he fell. The victim hit his head on the concrete surface. He died a few hours later in a hospital.

A stepladder is an ordinary piece of equipment many of us take for granted as we do painting and maintenance work at home and on the job. Never forget that a fall from a ladder can result in serious injuries — broken arms and legs, and fatal head injuries.
