Basic safety and hazard recognition for parts cleaning tank safety.

There are many hazards associated with parts cleaning tanks and several things to remember about the safe and proper use of any parts washing tank.

Splash Hazards

Splash hazards are a constant likelihood with cleaning tank chemicals. In order to help protect workers, correct PPE should be used, this to include a face shield and/or goggles, chemical resistant aprons and gloves should be worn as protection against skin contact and chemical absorption. A respirator to protect lungs against the highly volatile organic compounds is suggested. An eyewash station should be nearby and ready to use in case of an emergency. All personal protective equipment and eyewash station should be in close proximity and kept in proper condition; ready to use at anytime the parts cleaning tank will be in use.
