Residential Masonry Contractor Cited for Repeat, Serious Violations at Alabama Worksite

Fines totaling $48,000 have been proposed after inspectors found alleged repeat and serious safety violations. The repeat citations allege that scaffolds lacked guardrails, weren’t fully planked, did not have toe boards installed and contained an area underneath that was not barricaded. The other repeat citations allege that employees did not have safe access to scaffolding, did not wear protective headgear and hadn’t been trained to recognize hazards associated with scaffolds. Serious violations include allegations that employees were allowed to use a scaffold that had platforms extending beyond supports, was not secure and was not erected under the supervision of a competent person. A fourth serious citation alleges a tripping hazard created by debris and loose bricks.
