  1. It takes 2 times the distance to stop a vehicle on a wet road compared to a dry one.
  2. When behind other vehicles on snowy or icy roads, drivers should maintain 3 times the following distance they would normally observe on those roads in dry conditions.
  3. Transport Canada says drivers need to be extra-vigilant about the possibility of encountering black ice on roadways in temperatures between -4C and 4C (25F and 39F)
  4. Winter tires have 30 percent deeper treads than all-season tires do.
