- Many different chemicals can be found in high-pressure injection guns, with the most common being paint, and paint thinner. The nature of the substance injected often determines the extent of the chemical injury. Oil paint injection injuries to the finger require amputation in over half of all reported cases, whereas latex-based paint injection injuries to the finger result in amputation less than 10% of the time.
- Records (OSHA) concerning work-related deaths in construction painting, showed a higher risk of fatal injury than expected from cohort studies including injuries on and off the job.
- Two accidents in one month at an Alabama paint manufacturer have spurred a wide variety of federal health and safety citations and more than $40,000 in fines for the company.
