Twin Dies at Age 23

Christine Pieper was excited about her new job on an oil rig. But just one week into her training, she fell from the back of a vacuum truck in central Alberta, Canada, and died later in hospital.

Alberta Employment is investigating Pieper’s death. A well site operator and the company that owned the vacuum truck also have been ordered to investigate the incident and provide reports to Alberta Employment.

Her hometown newspaper, the Didsbury Review, wrote that Pieper had recently earned her Class 1 driver’s license and was excited about her new job in the oilfield. The 23-year-old twin was described as a tough, determined woman who was not afraid to try anything.

Family members say one of her greatest attributes was that she never judged anyone. Pieper’s passion was hockey and she dreamed of saving enough money to travel to Australia for a year.

Her family honored her wish to have her organs donated.
