Course Description

The goal of this course is to provide information on the weather and road-related hazards found when driving in winter weather. The United States Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration reported that on average there are over 560 000 crashes due to winter conditions, annually. This leads to an average of over 137 000 injuries and over 1 600 deaths annually, from these crashes. In other words, winter conditions are common cause of crashes.

Numerous winter weather conditions lead to crashes, including limited visibility in storms, icy pavement, reduced traction, and unpaved roadways. This lesson will teach you general driving skills to ensure your safety in winter conditions, in addition to why these conditions are hazardous. Not only will you learn how to prevent accidents, you will learn how to prepare for and act during accidents, should they happen.
