Struck-By/Caught-Between

Struck-by and caught-between hazards are significant risks in workplaces where heavy equipment, machinery, or materials are present. Struck-by hazards involve objects or equipment striking workers, while caught-between hazards occur when workers are caught, crushed, or squeezed between objects, machinery, or equipment. Examples include being struck by falling objects, vehicles, or collapsing structures, as well as being caught in machinery or between moving parts. Preventive measures include maintaining clear work areas, securing materials properly, using safety barriers or guards around machinery, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Training employees on hazard recognition and safe work practices, such as proper lifting techniques and equipment operation, is crucial for minimizing risks. By implementing effective safety protocols and promoting a culture of vigilance and compliance, workplaces can significantly reduce the occurrence of struck-by and caught-between incidents and ensure the safety of all workers.
